Proyecto Cultural is pleased to announced a call for artist to our first ever exhibition “Self-Authorship Requires No Permission”.

The purpose of this exhibition is to create a safe and un-censored space that allows People of Color to express themselves through art. Historically, opportunities for artists of color have been significantly limited due to systemic barriers in the art world. This lack of representation often stems from a combination of factors, including underfunded community programs, biased selection processes in galleries, and a general lack of visibility for diverse voices in mainstream art. As a woman of color in the art community, I have made it my mission to address these disparities and create a supportive environment where other artists can showcase their work more frequently. Building community is essential, as it fosters collaboration and empowerment among artists who share similar experiences and perspectives. 

We are inviting artist of color to submit their original work in any style, size, or medium that reflects the statements above and although any topic is allow and we strive for a uncensored experience, please note that Proyecto Cultural is a family friendly community center/nonprofit and artwork that contains nudity or profanity will not be accepted. 

Application deadline: JUNE 15th, 2025, at 11:59pm 

Requirements: 

1. Artists Statement / Personal Statement

2. CV / Resume

3. Six (6) Images of work & up to 3 different works

4. Must live in Nebraska 

5. Must be a POC
